HARDENBERGH: 1 Male 45 and up (Johannis, age 68); 1 Female 16 and under 26 (Cornelia, age 23); 1 Female 26 and under 45 (could possibly be Tyantje age 43, Mary age 41, Tyantjie age 36, Catherine age 32, or Jenneke age 41. I elimated Elizabeth age 30 and Antje age 34 becasue they were both known to be married in 1800); 1 Female 45 and up (Cornelia, age 62); 8 Slaves.496 He was on the 1810 census as head of household taken on 1810 at Rochester, Ulster County, New York,,. The data found was JOHANNA G. HARDENBERGH, 1 male 45 and over (Johannes, age 79), 1 female 26 and under 45 (possibly Catherine, age 43 or Cornelia, age 33. I elimated Elizabeth age 40 and Aneje age 44 becasue they were both probably married and had young children in 1810.), 2 females 45 and up (Cornelia, age 73, the second possibly Tyantje, age 54 or Jenneke, age 52 or Mary, age 52 or Tyantjie, age 47.), 1 other free white person (unknown), 5 slaves, total people 10.497 He and Cornelia DuBois tombstone were inscribed with

He was a Pastor of the Raritan churches, President of Rutgers College.655 During the conflict with Great Britain he was among our most active and enthusiastic patriots. A warm personal friend of Washington, he was a prominent member of the Convention which framed the first constitution of New Jersey. His public zeal for his native land, and his patriotic and fearless sermons provoked the enmity of his Tory neighbors, and endangered his life. The British General offered a reward of one hundred pounds for his apprehension. His peril was such that he was obliged to sleep with a loaded musket by the side of his bed and was frequently compelled to leave his home fully armed and to roam about the country, to avoid being seized by Tories. On several occasions he narrowly escaped with his life.

The data found was GIRARDUS HARDENBERGH, 1 Male 10 and under 16, 1 Male 45 and up (Geradus Hardenbergh), 1 Female 45 and up (Nancy), unable to read number of slaves. Since there are other Gerardus Hardenbergh in my file born in the 1700's, it is possible that this census record is attached to the wrong person.695 He lived at Sullivan County, New York.696
